Privacy Policy for DropNote
Last modified: Aug 13, 2025
At DropNote, your privacy is our highest priority. The fundamental purpose of this service is to provide a secure and private way to share temporary information. This policy outlines the measures taken by DropNote to protect the privacy of our users.
1. Service Description
DropNote is a free web-based service that allows users to create notes that they can share over the internet via unique, private HTTPS URLs (hereafter referred to as "links"). These notes are designed to be temporary and are permanently deleted after being read or after a user-defined time period has expired.
The act of creating and transmitting the link is the responsibility of the DropNote user. Depending on the communication channel you choose to share the link (e.g., email, instant messaging, social media), there may be a risk of interception by third parties.
2. How Notes and Their Content are Processed
When a user creates a note, the content is stored on our secure servers, hosted by Google Firebase. Each note is assigned a unique, randomly generated ID.
Deletion on Read: When a note is set to "Destroy on read," its data is permanently and irrecoverably deleted from our database immediately after it has been successfully delivered to the first person who opens the link.
Deletion by Timer: If a user sets a self-destruct timer (e.g., "Destroy after 1 hour"), the note will be permanently deleted from our database after that time has passed. This deletion occurs automatically on our servers, whether the note has been read or not.
Unread Notes: Any note that is not read and does not have a specific timer set will be automatically and permanently deleted from our servers after 30 days of inactivity to ensure no data is retained unnecessarily.
Once a note is deleted from DropNote's database, there is absolutely no way to recover it.
3. Processing of IP Addresses
DropNote does not log or store the IP addresses of its users in connection with the notes they create or view. IP addresses are processed temporarily by our hosting and server infrastructure (Google Firebase) as required to establish a connection and serve content, but they are not stored in our application database or log files.
4. Disclosure of Data to Third Parties
DropNote does not share or sell any user data or note content to third parties. Our administrative team has access to the database for maintenance and security purposes, but we have a strict internal policy against accessing the content of user notes.
5. Disclaimer
DropNote provides the platform for sharing notes but declines any responsibility for the content of the notes created by users. Users are solely responsible for the information they choose to share.
6. Use of Cookies
DropNote uses cookies (small text files stored on your computer) to improve the functionality of our site. We also partner with third parties like Google AdSense who use cookies to serve advertisements.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
